چکیده:

Current morphology of mountain belts is a consequence of morphogenetic phases which affect structural geology of a region. Geomorphological investigations in the catchment area of Abolfares dam in south western Iran were conducted as a preliminary task due to dam construction in this region. Existence of large thrust faults, occurrence of several landslides and extent of deformable and low competent Formations made it necessary to understand mutual relationship of existing geological structure and geomorphology in. The study results show that lithological variations and diversity of the geological structures particularly thrust faults had key role on the geomorphology of the area
